THE ACORN - 15
Week ending 3rd May 2019
SCHOOL WILL BE CLOSED ON MONDAY 6TH MAY FOR ONE DAY ONLY AS IT IS A BANK HOLIDAY.WE HOPE YOU ENJOY THE DAY. ALL CHILDREN SHOULD RETURN TO SCHOOL ON TUESDAY 7TH MAY.
Mrs Simons will not be returning to Spalding Primary School. On behalf of the School and the Governing Body we would like to thank her for her service and wish her well for the future.
Can we please remind you that if your child arrives late, you must bring them into school via the office. Please do not attempt to open gates (especially in the Reception area) in order for your child to gain access. If they are late and are not brought into school via the office, they will not be registered correctly and this could potentially be extremely dangerous if we were to have an emergency eg. a fire.
Smarties Challenge - If your child received a tube of Smarties for the PTA Smarties Challenge before the Easter holiday, please make sure you return your tube filled with coins as soon as possible. Thank you.
Bags 2 School Collection - Your child will be bringing home a Bag 2 School bag this evening. If you have any unwanted items, please check the information on the bag to see if they are suitable and then bring your filled bag along to school. The collection will take place on Friday 24th May so please bring your bag by 9.00am on that day. Thank you.
On Thursday 25th April, some children entered the Science Fair which we hope will become a regular event to showcase all the fantastic inventions/experiments children do. There were some fantastic ideas including a lunch on wheels robot that moved and a dream helmet. It was a tough decision choosing the overall winner as children were so enthusiastic! First prize was won by Liam in Year 3 Topaz where he created a machine which would turn all the plastic into reusable items. Thank you to the parents who came to see the inventions and listened to the children’s fabulous scientific explanations as to how their creation worked. We hope the science fair will continue to grow in popularity. Next term, we are hoping to hold another science fair where children can bring an experiment to school, so look out for the letters and posters about the next fair.
