ACORN 7th December 2018

Week ending 7th December 2018

If your child has been absent from school for any reason, please make sure that you visit the school website or call into the office to get any letters you may have missed

PTA Christmas Market

We look forward to seeing children, parents, carers, friends and family at the PTA Christmas Market this evening from 5.00pm-7.00pm. There will be loads of fun things to do and some lovely food to try. Santa will arrive at 5.15pm and will be giving out treats during the evening. You can take a selfie with Santa and the Spalding Fire Crew. Our school choir will be performing and there will be many other activities and stalls. Our PTA have worked tirelessly to make this an amazing evening for you all to enjoy so please come along and support them in raising funds for the benefit of all children. See you there!

Parking Issues

Sadly we are still receiving reports from our neighbours that people are blocking driveways and are being very rude when approached for bad parking. Please DO NOT block drives as our neighbours need to be able to leave and return to their own property as and when they wish to. Consider how you would feel if someone was to do the same to you and you were unable to leave your own property. It is illegal to park on the yellow zig-zags so do not do this. We want to maintain a good relationship with our neighbours so please be respectful to them. We have advised our neighbours to report all issues to the police. Children’s safety is our priority and unfortunately some parents are compromising this by their dreadful behaviour.

Christmas Lunch – Tuesday 11th December

Just a reminder that if you did not order a Christmas lunch for your child, they will need to bring a packed lunch with them on this day. There will not be any food available for those who have not ordered.

Meal Times

Unfortunately we have had a few occasions just recently when parents/carers have not ordered a hot meal for their child, but the child does not have a packed lunch with them. If it is found that you have not ordered a meal, then we will telephone you and it is expected that you will bring a packed lunch into school. We are unable to provide food for children who have not ordered. Please make sure you make a note of the days you have ordered meals with The Farm Kitchen to avoid problems occurring. Meals need to be ordered a week in advance and the deadline is on a Tuesday at 3.00pm. The hot meals are delicious with three choices of main meal and dessert – why not give them a try.

Kingswood Residential Visit – Year 5 & 6 children

If your child is going on this residential visit, they have received a letter containing information about a meeting and also paperwork which needs to be completed and returned to school by Friday 14th December. Thank you.

Starting School in September 2019

If you have a child who was born between 1st September 2014 and 31st August 2015, they will be due to start school in September 2019. You need to apply for a place in a school for them—please do not assume that because they have a brother or sister in our school, or your child goes to Wygate Foundation Nursery School that you will automatically get a place in our school—this is not the case. Please call into the school office for a leaflet on how to apply for a place. If you are applying for a place and have a brother or sister who currently comes to our school, please make sure you put this information in the relevant place on the application form. This could make the difference between you obtaining a place in this school or not. Please make your application before the closing date of 15th January 2019.

Attendance Percentages for Term 2 so far

If your class achieves the highest attendance for the whole of Term 2, then there will be a special non-uniform day reward. There are two rewards, one for the Reception & KS1 classes and one for the KS2 classes. Try to be at school every day and help your class win the reward. Please take a look at our Attendance Policy on our website.
