On Friday 30th January, year 3 enjoyed a very special Internet Safety Workshop. The enthusiasm of the workshop leader meant that children were completely engaged with the various activities and they enjoyed every stage of their learning.
Children began by learning the importance of having passwords, as well as what a safe, protective password should be. Through the use of role-play, children then explored a fairy tale computer game, where the ‘Big Bad Wolf’ kept trying to find out information about the Three Little Pigs and Red Riding Hood. The wolf wore a disguise and, when that failed, then tried being friendly. However, by using ‘Stop! Think! Tell!’ the children were quick to recognise the dangers the characters were in.
The workshop ended by using Cinderella to explore cyber-bullying and the children got the opportunity to discuss who they would turn to if they ever came across ‘internet trolls.’ It was an exciting, engaging and educational morning for all the children, who thoroughly enjoyed the active nature of the workshop.
The workshops have taken place all week and every child has taken part in the activities.
