I have served as a school Governor at a variety of schools for the past eighteen years, many of which have been here at Spalding Primary School. As the Associate Minister of St John's Church, Spalding, I am not only involved with the school as a Governor but regularly come into the school to lead assemblies.
I am a Local Authority governor at Spalding Primary School. At present Vice Chairman, a position held for the last eight years. I have been involved in education in the Spalding area for the last 25 years and a governor at SPS for more than 10. I go into school on a regular basis to listen to the children read. My responsibilities also cover ensuring all safeguarding policies and procedures are in place and adhered to. My working career was with H.M. Revenue & Customs until retirement some years ago. I live locally, have 2 children and 2 grandchildren.
I am married with two children who are now in their twenties. Both were educated at Spalding Primary School. I have been a governor at the school since 1993. The need to give something back to education was the reason for me initially volunteering as a parent governor. This was borne from having an excellent education at both Pinchbeck East Primary School and Gleed Boys Secondary School. I regularly help out on class trips and visits including the Kingswood Residential.
I am currently employed at the school as Site Manager and have been in this role for eight years. Prior to that, I gained eleven years Site Manager experience at the William Stukeley School in Holbeach. I feel that in my role as a Staff Governor I am an asset to the Board of Governors due to my knowledge of working within a school environment for so many years. I enjoy not just working here but also getting involved in school activities. I am married to Jayne and live in the local community. I served in the military for thirty years.
When I attended my first parents' evening at Spalding Primary School I was so impressed by all of the fantastic work that goes into improving and enriching the curriculum for our children's benefit. It was at this point that I thought I simply must give something back and so I became a Parent Governor.
I'm married with 2 children at the school. I have been impressed with the way the school continues to improve. Spalding Primary provides a safe, stable and supportive environment for the children to learn and grow both academically and as they journey through their lives. I will play my part in ensuring the school continues to meet their obligations to enable this to continue.
