Welcome to Reception!
Welcome to the Foundation Stage
At Spalding Primary School the teaching staff value early childhood. We believe that young children learn best through first-hand experience, while at play and being able to follow their interests. Carefully planned play opportunities support young children to develop socially, morally, intellectually, creatively and physically.
The Foundation Stage comprises of Sunshine Class and Rainbow Class. The two classes share two classrooms and the outdoor area, working together as a Foundation Stage Unit.
Inside, the children work on Adult- led activities (which we call learning challenges) with the teacher or teaching assistant or on Child-Initiated activities where the children choose for themselves. The children have continuous access to a secure, spacious garden area where the activities reflect those planned for indoors.
Each term we adopt a cross-curricular approach to learning through a range of themes.
The children help to plan these topics so they may change during the year depending on what their interests are at the time.
Visits and Visitors
This term we will be having a visit from a local theatre company. They will be putting on a Christmas Show for the children.
We warmly welcome members of the community who come into speak to our children. Last year the Lollypop Man talked to the children about road safety.
