Welcome to Year 1!
Your teachers and teaching assistants cannot wait to share our new topics for your first year in Key Stage One.
This year you will have the opportunity to explore and investigate new and exciting topics such as ‘Where on Earth are all the animals?’
Your classrooms will be engaging and exciting, relating to the current theme and question we have. We will be sharing our questions with you and you will be able to choose some of the activities which we will do. We’d love for you to share any learning you have completed at home or any special trips that you make with your family. Bring in your goodies so that we can celebrate them with you and your friends!
We will be learning new phonics sounds and develop these to make great words and sentences through our Read, Write Inc. lessons. In maths we will be learning about numbers and their order as well as being able to add and subtract using the counters, number lines and 100 squares. We will be going all around the world during the terms until Christmas, exploring different countries, their animals and thinking about what it would be like to live in the country. Big Writing will be a super way to show both what you have learnt and add your own inspiration and talent. This year is your year to show us how amazing you are as we work towards the phonics check in June.
We are looking forward to having lots of fun this year and learning our key targets as we go. Come with us for a fun filled adventure!
