WELCOME to the first edition of The Acorn for the new school year. We hope all children have settled back into school life and are enjoying their new classes and Teachers. We give a special welcome to our new Reception children and hope they are already enjoying their time with us.
As you will know, we no longer have class names – classes are known by the year group and the teacher’s name or initials. Set out below is a list of year groups and teachers names to help you when completing any paperwork.

If you have not already registered your child for the flu vaccination, please do this as soon as possible. A reminder email about this was sent home to children in Years 1-6 on 9th September. If your child is in Reception and you need a further copy of the letter, please call into the school office. The vaccinations will take place within school on 8th November.
Year 6 children – Transfer to Secondary School – September 2020
An important letter was emailed to Year 6 Parents/Carers on Monday 9th September. This letter explains the procedure for applying for a secondary school place for your child. An application has to be made for ALL year 6 children by the closing date of 31st October. Please read the letter carefully for information on how to apply for a place.

Vacancies - We are currently looking for two midday meal supervisors. The role would be from 11.45am until 1.15pm Monday to Friday term time only. If you would like further information or an application form, please call into the school office.
Tests - Advance Notice – The SATs tests will take place as follows :-

It is absolutely essential that all children are in school for these important tests. Please do not arrange routine medical appointments for these weeks. Thank you.
Hurricane House T-shirts
We have two brand new blue Hurricane house T-shirts available to purchase in the school office. They both have the school logo embroidered on them. One is size 5-6 years and the other is 9-10 years. They are £5.99 each. If you are interested, please come to the school office and pay by CASH on this occasion. First come first served. Thank you.
Welcome to a new school year from your PTA team and a special hello to all the new parents and children at Spalding Primary School, we hope your first week has been full of excitement and joy.
We would like to take this opportunity to invite everyone to the PTA Annual General Meeting which will be held on Monday 30 September 2019 at 6.30pm in the school hall. This is an opportunity to meet some other parents, have some fun and maybe even volunteer a little time as we work together to bring lots of exciting fundraising events over the coming year.
If you are thinking of volunteering just a little time or on a more regular basis, then we would love to hear from you. You can drop the team a message on email at email@example.com or just come along to the September meeting to hear a little more information before you decide to commit.
Thank you all for your continued support, time and donations. Together we raised an amazing amount for our children's school in 2018/19 and are hoping to do even better this coming year.
To kick-start our fundraising this year, children will be bringing home a Bag 2 School this evening. Please take a look at the bag to find out what can go into it and if you have any donations to make, please bring them to school ready for the collection at 9.00am on Thursday 10th October. Bags can be left under the canopy by the school office entrance.
