THE ACORN - 13
Week ending 22nd March 2019
A huge thank you to all who supported our fundraising activities for Comic Relief. The sale of our red noses, the bake sale and donations for dressing as a fairy tale character or in red clothing raised an amazing amount of £1,111.05. Well done. A huge thank you goes to Mrs Bell, Miss Bell and Miss Walker for their hard work in organising the fun events in the hall during the day. We all had a fantastic time.
If you donated cakes for the Bake Sale, but did not put your name on your box, please call into the office to collect it.
We have received several reports of Parents/Carers using bad language at the school gates and in the playgrounds. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. It gives children the wrong message if they hear horrible words coming out of an adult’s mouth as children then think it is OK to repeat those words. Not only do our own children hear these words, but so do members of the public passing by the school, and also pre-school children. Please consider what you are saying and who is overhearing you.
After School Clubs will NOT take place on Monday 25th March due to a staff meeting. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
We are sad to tell you that Mrs Thompson (Year 1 Kingfisher class teacher), and Miss Thompson (Reception class Teaching Assistant) will be leaving us at Easter. We will be sad to see them both go after many years of working in our school. We thank them both for their hard work and wish them all the very best in their new jobs. Also, Mrs Stevens, our afternoon crossing patrol lady, will be leaving us at Easter. We thank her for helping us to cross the road safely over the last few months. Mr Parker, who currently crosses children in the morning will be taking over the afternoon patrol as well.
On Thursday 2nd May two of our Year 5 classrooms will be used as a Polling Station. SCHOOL WILL BE OPEN on this day – it will be a normal school day. Children in Year 5 will be going on a trip. Members of the public will be coming into the school via the car park to vote. They will not have access to any other part of the school so there is no need for you to be concerned about the safety of the children. At all times, the playground gates will be locked so the public cannot enter the playgrounds. The only gate which will be unlocked to permit access will be the green gates at the bottom of the car park. However, there will be a barrier erected just beyond the gates so children cannot get out and the public cannot get into school. As we expect there to be more traffic on this day, please consider walking to school if you are able. Thank you.
