Christmas Lunch - This will be held on Wednesday 11th December 2019. It is always a fun occasion.  If your child wishes to have Christmas lunch please visit The Farm Kitchen’s website in the usual way to place your order.  As always, you need to book the meal for your child – it will not just arrive!!! The deadline for ordering the Christmas meal is 3.00pm on Tuesday 3rd December. Don’t be disappointed – book today!! If your child does not wish to have the hot lunch, they can, of course, bring a packed lunch.

Christmas Fair – Friday 6th December 5.00pm-7.00pm - Don’t forget to book this date in your diary and come along to enjoy the fun things which have been organised by our amazing PTA. If your child wishes to take part in the Christmas Elves Craft Workshop, make sure you book a place via ParentPay as there are a limited number of spaces available.  On Friday 6th December there will be a non-uniform day for the children and we would ask that you bring along a donation of a raffle or tombola prize please.  We are looking forward to an exciting evening of Christmas games, raffles, tombola, singing and eating the wonderful treats available in Mrs Claus’ Café.  See you there!

Cancellation of After School Clubs

After School Clubs WILL NOT TAKE PLACE on Tuesday 26th November due to staff training and Friday 6th December due to the Christmas Fair. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Remembrance Day Parade – thank you to our Mini Police Officers, Mrs Bell and Miss Bell who represented our school so well at the Remembrance Day Parade in Spalding on Sunday 10th November and all the other children who represented various organisations.

Thank you very much to everyone who contributed towards this wonderful cause.  Our bake sale, box collection and non-uniform day all helped to raise an amazing amount of £1,037.23. WOW Spalding Primary School – you are all fabulous.

Reception & Year 1 Christmas Plays

Don’t forget to request your tickets for the Reception and Year 1 Christmas Plays on 16th, 17th and 18th December. Any spare tickets will be available from the school office on Friday 13th December.

Secret Santa DayIf your child wishes to take part in this, don’t forget to pay on ParentPay and return your paperwork by the deadline of  TODAY - Friday 22nd November.

Safe Air for us all to breatheWe have received reports that some people are leaving their cars running whilst coming into school to collect their children.  We are sure you will agree with us that this is dreadful for everyone’s health and also for our environment.  Please do not do this.  It is very harmful for us all.  Thank you.

Christmas Post Box - Our very own Christmas Post Box will be available in the school hall from Monday 2nd December 2019.  Children can post their Christmas cards to people in their class and other classes within school. Please make sure that envelopes clearly show the name of the recipient, together with their class – we will be unable to deliver cards which are not properly addressed. The KS2 classes will take it in turns to deliver the cards around school, taking some festive cheer with them as they go!

Kingswood Residential Visit – May 2020

If your child is going on this visit, can we please remind you that the next payment of £30.00 (or £15.00 if the school receives Pupil Premium funding for your child) is due by 6th December 2019.  Please make sure you have paid this amount via ParentPay. Thank you.

Mobile phones -  If children bring a mobile phone to school with them, these should be switched off before they enter the school gates and handed to the teacher for safe keeping during the day.  The teacher will return the phone at the end of the school day and they should then be put straight into their bag. Children should only retrieve their phone from their bag once they have left the school premises and should not be using them in the school playground.  Thank you.

Christmas Hoops – During the last week in November, children will have Hoop Day within their classrooms, when each child makes a festive item, they are all put together on a hoop, and then displayed in the school hall for the Christmas period.  We would like to welcome parents/carers into school to assist in the making of the hoops. This is always a fun, but hectic day.  If you would like to come along and help, please see your child’s teacher to find out the day and time the children will be doing the activity.  Thank you.

Reception and Year 6 Height and Weight Checks  - An email was sent to Parents/Carers who have children in Reception and Year 6 on 29th October 2019 regarding height and weight checks.  Please read the attachments to the email carefully.  If you are happy for your child to take part in the National Child Measurement Programme, you do not need to do anything.  However, if you DO NOT wish your child to take part, you need to opt out by TODAY -  22nd November 2019.  The checks will take place within school on a date to be arranged during this school year.

Starting School in September 2020 - If you have a child who was born between 1st September 2015 and 31st August 2016, they will be due to start school in September 2020.  You need to apply for a place in a school for them—please do not assume that because they have a brother or sister in our school, or your child goes to Wygate Foundation Nursery School that you will automatically get a place in our school—this is not the case.  Please call into the school office for a leaflet on how to apply for a place.  If you are applying for a place and have a brother or sister who currently comes to our school, please make sure you put this information in the relevant place on the application form.  This could make the difference between you obtaining a place in this school or not.  The application process opens on 14th November 2019 and closes on 15th January 2020.

Please take a look on our website for a consultation by Lincolnshire County Council regarding proposed changes to School Admissions policies.  It can be found on the front page of the website under ‘notice board’ or follow the link below -

Before & After School Clubs - Can we please remind parents/carers that you should NOT park in the car park when dropping off your child for a morning club or collecting your child from after school clubs.  These are extremely busy times of the day with school staff attempting to arrive for work or leave for the day.  This is for the safety of yourself and your children.  Thank you.

Tests - Advance Notice – The SATs tests will take place as follows :-

Year 2 Puzzle Books - w/c 4th May 2020

Year 6 SATs– w/c 11th May 2020

It is absolutely essential that all children are in school for these important tests.  Please do not arrange routine medical appointments for these weeks.  Thank you.

Attendance Percentages for Term 2

If your class achieves the highest attendance for the whole of Term 2, then there will be a special non-uniform day reward.  There are two rewards, one for the Reception & KS1 classes and one for the KS2 classes.  Try to be at school every day and help your class win the reward.  Please take a look at our Attendance Policy on our website.
