ACORN 8 - 19th December 2019

Today is the last day of Term 2.  Term 3 starts on Monday 6th January 2020 and all children must be in school on this day.

We would like to say a huge thank you to our PTA for organising a variety of events over the Christmas period.  We hope that parents/carers who ordered Christmas Cards, gift labels, mugs, tea towels or bags all printed with their own child’s Christmas design have enjoyed seeing the finished result. The Christmas Fair, along with the Elves Workshop was amazing and was well supported, and the Secret Santa Shopping Day was a great success. The PTA are a wonderful group of people who give so much of their own time to organising events for all children, parents, carers and friends to enjoy.  All money raised is for the benefit of our own children and without these funds, the children would not be able to have those extra little things.  Thank you so much.

Reception & Year 1 Christmas Plays

Many congratulations to the Reception and Year 1 children, teachers and teaching assistants for their wonderful performances of ‘Lights, Camel, Action 2!’ They all worked so hard. Thank you to parents/carers for providing costumes.

Kingswood Residential Visit – May 2020 If your child is going on this visit, can we please remind you that the next payment of £30.00 (or £15.00 if the school receives Pupil Premium funding for your child) is due by 10th January 2020?  Please make sure you have paid this amount via ParentPay.

Before & After School Clubs - Can we please remind parents/carers that you should NOT park in the car park when dropping off your child for a morning club or collecting your child from after school clubs.  These are extremely busy times of the day with school staff attempting to arrive for work or leave for the day.  This is for the safety of yourself and your children.

If your child has applied for a club during terms 3 & 4, you will receive a letter by Friday 10th January 2020 letting you know whether they have gained a place in a club.

Reception and Year 6 Height and Weight Checks  We have been informed that these checks will take place on Monday 3rd February 2020.

Please take a look on our website for a consultation by Lincolnshire County Council regarding proposed changes to School Admissions policies.  It can be found on the front page of the website under ‘notice board’ or follow the link below -

Starting School in September 2020 - If you have a child who was born between 1st September 2015 and 31st August 2016, they will be due to start school in September 2020.  You need to apply for a place in a school for them—please do not assume that because they have a brother or sister in our school, or your child goes to Wygate Foundation Nursery School that you will automatically get a place in our school—this is not the case.  Please call into the school office for a leaflet on how to apply for a place.  If you are applying for a place and have a brother or sister who currently comes to our school, please make sure you put this information in the relevant place on the application form.  This could make the difference between you obtaining a place in this school or not.  The application process closes on 15th January 2020 so please make sure you have applied by then.

Tests - Advance Notice – The SATs tests will take place as follows :-

Year 2 Puzzle Books - w/c 4th May 2020

Year 6 SATs– w/c 11th May 2020

It is absolutely essential that all children are in school for these important tests.  Please do not arrange routine medical appointments for these weeks.  Thank you.
